Cheers!
Winter 2011 has finally finished. Thanks to all of you: clients, fellow guides, hut guardians, hoteliers, lifties etc who made it such a great success.
It certainly has been a very successful winter season too. There has been much chuntering about poor conditions, and quite a few folk have remarked that I must have had a terrible winter.
I've certainly had to work hard to get good snow, but with the exception of 1 or 2 days (at the absolute most), the snow has been uniformly good and in some cases has been exceptional. Austria in early March was outstanding, with some of the deepest powder I've ever skied, and the weather in April and May was superb for high mountain touring.
It's just a question of being creative and flexible in approach.
