Hi Andy
With our forthcoming trip approaching fast how are things shaping up in the Mountains - are the snow and ice routes benefiting from the cold spring ?
looking forward to it

Hi Darren!
I was hoping to get out for some alpine action in mid May, but the weather has been so bad that even valley level rock climbing has been challenging. In particular, it has rained non stop this week, with the snow-rain limit at 2900m. The Aiguilles were TOTALLY plastered on Friday. Before that, there have been good conditions and routes have been done on the Chardonnet and the Verte at the very least.
Many guides are starting work this weekend, and I'm sure there will be a lot of trail breaking high up. This means there will be tracks into the popular places (Cosmiques arete, Mont Blanc, Tour Ronde normal route etc. within a very short time. More difficult or esoteric routes may require a little more work.....
Best Wishes
ANDY
