Valais Safari

Day by day itinerary:

Day 1 Meet at the Hotel du Grand-Combin, Fionnay at 19.00 hrs where you will meet your guide Andy Perkins for a briefing.

Day 2 Off piste around Verbier, warming up the legs and refreshing on transceiver searches. Possibly a short skin to check equipment, stay in the Mont Fort Hut.

Day 3 Ski through the Verbier system, exiting on the north east side over the Greppon Blanc and 100m descent down to Leyteygeon. Take a taxi up the picturesque Val d’Herens to Evolene.

Day 4 Short taxi ride to Nax. Lift up to the Col de Cou, a short decent is followed by a 1½ hour skin and then a long off piste run to Grimentz. Taxi to St Luc, ski through the system and finally a half hour skin to the unique Hotel Weisshorn, a remote yet comfortable mountain hotel.

Day 5 Ski through the St Luc system to the Col de Boeuf, then a long descent to Oberems. Cable car to Turtmann in the Rhone valley, bus or train to Raron, then a cable car up to Unterbäch.

Day 6 Skin up the Augstborghorn (approx 3 hours) then ski off the back down to Törbel. Take a navette to Stalden and a train up to Zermatt.

Day 7 A day in Zermatt, possibilities include Breithorn followed by a descent of the Schwarztor glacier or could heli ski around the Dufourspitz (weather dependent and payable locally).

Day 8 Travel home.
