Grand St Bernard Safari

This is effectively a combination of off-piste and star tour, staying at two deluxe mountain establishments, the Mont Fort "hut" and the Grand St bernard monastery on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The latter is a unique spot, worth staying there for the experience in itself.

Day 1 Meet at the Hotel du Grand-Combin, Fionnay

Day 2 Off piste around Verbier, warming up the legs and refreshing on transceiver searches. Stay at the Hotel du Grand-Combin.

Day 3 Off piste around Verbier, introduction to touring technique and ascending on skins. Stay at the Mont Fort Hut.

Day 4 With the use of skins you will be accessing the remote parts of Verbier, this may include the Ferret or the classic Stairway to Heaven. Stay at the Hotel du Grand-Combin.

Day 5 Heli Ski in the Verbier area, (weather dependant, charged locally). with a wide variety of possibilities: the Petit Combin, the Col des Plines, Rosa Blanche etc. Return to hotel.

Day 6 Super St Bernard by taxi, lift up to the Italian border. Ski the classic long off piste run into the Combe de Menouves to Etroubles, lunch in Italy followed by a bus back to Super St Bernard and ascend to the St Bernard monastery.

Day 7 Skin up Mont Fourchon, ski down to Italy and return to Super St Bernard, then taxi back to Fionnay. Stay at the Hotel du Grand-Combin.

Day 8 Travel home.
