Great early season snow followed by warm period
Some great early season snow has fallen in the Alps, now consolidating quickly.
We had a a solid 4 days of storm cycle in early December, which is just as well as the weather has been pretty settled with very little precipitation since then. Cold weather both during and after that storm means that skiing is possible right down to valley level, and the icefalls have all formed to moderate levels. Cold settled weather then persisted for a couple of weeks, with many sheltered areas developing significant patches of surface hoar.
However, it's now quite warm (5 deg C at my house at 1140m as I write this) so things have settled up to 2200m or so. Above that altitude there has been a good quantity of new snow on strong westerly winds, so avalanche conditions will remain delicate for the time being in the high mountains.
