Has anyone used or bought these skis?
I recently hired some K2 Waybacks. They were great but I am female and the shortest length was 168cm. I am looking to buy something for Off-Piste and Touring. I looked for the closest thing to them in a shorter length and found the Payback which is a woman's touring/Freeride ski and a little wider but comes in a 162 length. Unfortunately I am unlikely to be able to try before I buy.
I am a Silver /Purple skier and enjoy day tours. Ht 169cm Wt 64Kg.
Any comments gratefully received.

Hi Lucy

Firstly, a shorter ski would probably suit you.

Looking at the comparative reviews you sent to me, the key thing for me with the Paybacks compared to the Waybacks you tried is the increased width underfoot (easier in variable conditions but crucially faster too) and the reduced radius (so naturally tighter turns, but not so grippy on steeps).

It's hard to tell what the flex pattern will be like as the contructions are totally different. In an ideal world you'd try them out but that probably isn't going to happen. Have you looked at any user reviews?

K2 is always a good investment in my experience - solidly built, a bit heavier than some but give great relaible ski performance for many seasons. I have a pair of Apache Outlaws as my main workaday off piste ski and I like them so much I have a brand new pair waiting in the wings for when the first pair finally wear out.

However, in terms of other touring skis for women, I've just returned from a Haute Route skiing with 2 women who were both on Scott Aztec Mayas and rated them highly. These could be worth a look....

If anyone out there has any other views, please do post it here. Thanks.
