Hi Andy, What extra gear do I need for unguarded hut touring? I presume I don't have to carry my own logs up the hill for the stove but there must be some extra additional kit needed? I thought of having my wife air lifted in each afternoon to keep we warm at night but presume this would be a little over the top...

Hi Mike

Unguarded huts have a wide variety of facilities!

In terms of extra personal kit, I usually carry a down jacket, a mug and a spoon as a minimum to ensure I stay relatively warm and healthy. Although most huts will have logs and a stove, we'll be carrying a gas stove just in case plus plenty of lighters, a pan to boil water, and small supply of Scotland's finest to keep you warm in case the helicopter ferrying your wife is grounded in bad weather.

Look forward to it.....

Cheers
